Mark Schwarzer "£90,000-a-week midfielder has what it takes to play for Chelsea!"

Former Leicester City and Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer says ex-teammate Danny Drinkwater is good enough to play at Chelsea’s level.

The England international joined Leicester from boyhood club Manchester United for an undisclosed fee in 2012.

A return to Old Trafford was then muted last year in the aftermath of Leicester’s upsetting of the apple cart under Claudio Ranieri.

Now, it’s said The Champions are seriously interested in the 27-year-old midfielder and want to sign him this summer

However, it is said Leicester would not sanction the departure of both their centre-midfielders following the Foxes’ title success.

Now, though, the Blues are ready again to return for Drinkwater, and he is also very eager to make the move.

Regardless of the one and off rumors Mark Schwarzer believes former teammate has the ability necessary to succeed at Stamford Bridge.
“He’s not a Matic that’s for sure, he’s more of a creative sort of player,” he told talkSPORT when asked if Drinkwater would fit the bill under Conte.
“I think at Leicester last season you saw without having Kante next to him, he struggled – as did the rest of the team work. Danny Drinkwater is a very talented young man and has done incredibly well at Leicester.
“I think he’s capable of making the step up. Whether or not he’s someone who will play week-in week-out, whether he’s good enough to make that step up to be a mainstream player in Chelsea’s first XI, we’ll only know once he makes that step if it happens. But he’s definitely got the ability.”
