Paul Merson: ‘My prediction for Tottenham v Chelsea’

Tottenham, however, started their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park last Sunday.

But, despite Chelsea’s slow start to the new campaign, former Arsenal star Paul Merson is backing the champions to enjoy a strong season.

Writing in his column for the Daily Star, Merson said: “Spurs are playing at full strength but they didn’t look like scoring in a month of Sundays against Newcastle until Jonjo Shelvey was sent off.
  ALSO Follow me @ Twitter for More on Chelsea! “I think they would take a draw on Sunday. They will be desperate not to lose in their first game at Wembley otherwise it will be, ‘Oh, Spurs can’t win there’, all over again.
“But I think Chelsea will probably be happy with a draw as well after losing to Burnley in their opening game.
“You can’t write them off yet, though, despite Antonio Conte moaning about not having enough players.”
