According to a report from The Times, Conte believes that the Chelsea hierarchy were never serious about the idea of signing the player, despite the Italian asking for him in both the January and the summer transfer windows.

Chelsea failed with a £5 million bid for the player in the summer but London rivals Spurs pipped the Premier League champions to his signature.

Llorente went on to join Spurs in a deal thought to be worth around £11.5 million.
Chelsea were said to have reservations about the player’s mobility and lack of resale value.

It’s well known that part of Chelsea’s transfer strategy is to find players that they can look to move on for a reasonable price as they begin to enter their twilight years.
