Antonio Conte: 'This player could be the next Paul Pogba'

Blues boss Antonio Conte believes in Chelsea youngster; Ethan Ampadu to be the next Paul Pogba.

Antonio Conte has compared upcoming talent Ethan Ampadu to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, who he developed and turned into a superstar during his time at Juventus.

17 year-old Ampadu has featured for the Chelsea first team recently in Carabao Cup wins over Nottingham Forest and Everton, and has been tipped for stardom by his manager.

The Welsh Under-19 international signed for the Blues from Exeter City, where at 16 he was already a regular in League Two. He has looked at home in the first team despite his young aged.

Chelsea aren’t particularly known for bringing through young talent, despite dominating at youth level. They won the UEFA Youth League in both 2015 and 2016.
Conte is optimistic about the future of the club, and spoke in glowing terms about Ampadu in particular.
“I am very happy with our academy,” he said in a recent interview. “My first appearance in Serie A was when I was only 16 years old. I think I am the best person to give this type of possibility if I see that a young player deserves it.

“And my experience at Juventus with Paul Pogba, he was only 18 years old and then after one month he played from the start. I want to give this possibility but you have to deserve it.
“Amapdu for example is a player who is only 17 years old but he deserves to stay with us and develop and be the future of Chelsea.” concluded the Italian.

It looks as if Ampadu is in the first team to stay. Chelsea fans will hope that Conte keeps to his word, as they have not produced a genuine first team player in a long time. Can Ampadu break that trend? Follow US @ Twitter for More News & Gossips!
