The player confirmed via his twitter feed on Tuesday. The 18 year-old defender is regarded as one of the Blues’ biggest talents and helped them to a league and cup double last season. He is also a regular for England at youth level.

Sterling made his Chelsea first team debut in a 5-1 Carabao Cup win against Nottingham Forest back in September, and has been rewarded for his impressive form with a new five-year deal.

Having been on the books at Stamford Bridge for ten years, the London-born star was clearly delighted to be staying at the club and thanked fans for their support on Twitter.
“Very proud to have signed a new contract with Chelsea. It’s been a proud journey and one I look to continue with the club. Thank you for all the messages!” he wrote.
