Chelsea star dismisses exit rumors: 'I want to sign a new contract.'

Cesc Fabregas

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has affirmed his desire to stay at Stamford Bridge and sign a new contract, despite reported interest from Manchester United.

The Spanish international is out of contract with the Blues in 2019, and plenty of clubs are monitoring his situation in case he decides not to renew.

Jose Mourinho brought Fabregas to Chelsea back in 2014, and according to reports is trying to convince him to follow him to Old Trafford as the Red Devils search for a creative option in midfield.

However, the former Arsenal man has broken his silence on the rumours this week, insisting that he is happy in West London and is looking to pen a new deal with the club.
“Would I like to renew [with Chelsea]? Yes, because it is a club that has always treated me well.” he said.
“I believe the fans have a lot of respect for me and I have a lot of respect for them. I have given my all for the club for the last three-and-a-half years.”
“This is a fantastic club for me and I have had a fantastic time here. Hopefully another contract will happen. Time will tell.”

Fabregas has rediscovered some of his best form since Antonio Conte came to the club, and was a crucial figure in their title win in 2016/17.

He is expected to start for Chelsea on Sunday as they face Manchester United in a crucial Premier League clash.
