Serie A officials meet with Chelsea regarding Antonio Conte move

Italian Serie A officials meet with Chelsea regarding speculations of Antonio Conte's move.

Speculation is mounting regarding a return to Serie A for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte. The Italian is under pressure at Stamford Bridge, but has plenty of suitors back in his homeland.

One of the clubs that are most interested is AC Milan. The Rossoneri have not started the season well following a big summer investment, and are looking to replace manager Vincenzo Montella.

Conte fits the bill. Having won three Serie A titles with Juventus and a Premier League title with Chelsea, he is regarded as one of the best managers in the world and could at least take Milan back to the Champions League.

According to reports from CalcioMercatoWeb, club directors David Han li and Lorenzo Giorgietti were in London over the weekend to watch Chelsea’s match against Manchester United, where they initiated first contacts with the Italian over the manager’s position.

It’s an ambitious move from the San Siro club, but Conte’s job at Stamford Bridge is not completely safe despite winning the league title last season.

His relationship with owner Roman Abramovich has always been distant, and despite renewing his contract in the summer, results this season have cast doubt over his future.

The 48 year-old is known for wanting a lot of control. Reports suggest that if he were to go to Milan, he would want to be the one who decides how to rebuild the team and which players to sign.

This could complicate a potential deal. The Rossoneri are also considering former boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is now out of work after leaving Bayern Munich back in September.
