WOW! Two Chelsea academy players called up for Europa League clash with MOL Vidi

Chelsea academy stars Conor Gallagher and George McEachran look set to travel with the first team for their Europa League clash with MOL Vidi FC on Thursday night.

The Blues have already clinched the top spot in the Europa League's Group L to get through to the last 32 of the competition, so there is nothing riding on the game for the Blues as far as qualification is concerned, which  gives Maurizio Sarri the chance to rotate his side ahead of the Premier League trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon, including adding a couple of youngsters to the list.

Both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu have been part of the squads already this season, but according to football.london, Conor Gallagher and McEachran could travel with the squad to Hungary as well.

Both academy stars are not currently on the Europa League squad lists, but there is time for the Blues to register the pair on ‘List B’.

The rules read: “Each club is entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season. The list must be submitted by no later than 24.00CET on the day before the match in question.

“A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1997 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA. Players aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.”

Hudson-Odoi is on List B, while goalkeepers Marcin Bulka and Jamie Cumming have also already been added to the squad.

The Blues are holding an open training session tomorrow morning before they head to Budapest, and both players could be part of the session if they are to make the trip to Hungary for the match.

Gallagher and McEachran, both 18, are midfielders, with the former in particular having shined this season, playing a key role in the Development Squad’s Checkatrade Trophy win over AFC Wimbledon. McEachran is also the younger brother of former Chelsea player Josh, who is now plying his trade for Brentford in the Championship.
