AC Milan boss responds to Gonzalo Higuain links

AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso hopes Gonzalo Higuain will stay at the club but admits the decision might be taken out of his hands.

Higuain has been linked with a move to Chelsea to link up with former boss, Maurizio Sarri.
The Argentine, 31, is currently on loan at Milan from Serie A rivals Juventus but it has been claimed they will look to send him back early so Juve can sell him to Chelsea.
He has just one goal in his last 10 appearances in all competitions but Gatusso insists he wants him to stay and says he has been speaking to sporting director Leonardo, who has the final say on transfers at the San Siro.

"There are some chatter about him at the moment, but I see how he trains, the availability that he gives me and the professionalism he puts in," he said.
"The rest are his own things, his brother, his attorney who talks to Leonardo.
“I hope he stays as long as possible - if it does not, we'll see. Professionalism for me will not be a problem."

Higuain enjoyed the most prolific seasons of his illustrious career under Sarri at Napoli.

In the 2015/16 campaign, he scored 36 goals in 35 Serie A appearances and Blue's boss has made no secret of his desire to work with him again.
In October, he said: “I miss Higuain a great deal.”
“I miss him because he’ll keep scoring goals until the day he dies. “He is a goal machine, a systematic and automatic jackpot.”
But a deal to Stamford Bridge could be complicated due to Higuain’s current loan deal.
Milan paid Juve a £16m loan fee and can make it permanent if they pay a further £32m at the end of the season.

And Leonardo has urged him to improve his form if the switch to London does not materialise.
“He has to make a decision and take on his share of the responsibility,” the Brazilian said.
“Not this continual, 'yes, no, I’m not sure.'
"He had a tough moment, he has to put it behind him and get to work.
“There’s no point following rumours and gossip. He is here right now.
“Seeing as he is here, he needs to get down and actually do something for this team.
“A goal can change things, but if he is to continue here, he needs to take on responsibility.”
