Club want to extend Chelsea midfielder’s stay

Atalanta's Mario Pasalic, on loan from Chelsea, who helped Atalanta qualify for the Champions League at the weekend has pointed out that he wants stability and wants to stay in Italy.

Nearly going to Fiorentina last summer, who finished 16th in Serie A, the Croatian made a last minute switch, which really worked out in his favour.

The 24-year-old has provided much needed depth in what has been a long season for Atalanta, starting just under half of the 38 league matches, and came off the bench against Sassuolo in the final game of the campaign, picking up an assist during his 28 minute cameo.

His ability to pop up here and there with an important piece of play has made him a valuable asset in Bergamo, which is why Corriere dello Sport report Atalanta would like to extend his stay by an extra year.

Pasalic has made it clear he wants stability in his career, and while this scenario might not be the ideal permanent transfer he is looking for, it would allow him to stay at the same club for two seasons, perhaps with a view of an even longer spell.

Corriere explain the Chelsea loanee ‘welcomes the idea’ of the loan extension, and he could soon be joined by another player from the Blues, since his went so well.

Who that is, however, isn’t yet revealed.
