Michael Owen wants revenge.

Liverpool legend Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to gain revenge for their Old Trafford humiliation in August by beating Manchester United in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday night.

The Blues will welcome their bitter rivals to Stamford Bridge fresh from an impressive seven-game winning run in all competitions following a rocky start to the campaign.

Chelsea FC were 4-2 winners against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday evening thanks to Christian Pulisic’s perfect hat-trick on his first league start since August.

The United States international will be hoping to retain his spot in Frank Lampard’s team for the visit of Manchester United, who were 3-1 winners against Norwich City on Sunday, was was just their third victory in the top flight of the season.

Former Manchester United striker Owen believes that Chelsea FC will progress to the next round of the Carabao Cup with a victory over the Red Devils in west London.

“Manchester United fans will have been delighted to see their team back up their performance against Liverpool with successive away wins in recent days, but I feel their mini-revival will come a cropper against Chelsea in what promises to be another terrific cup-tie,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Chelsea have won their last seven games in all competitions and I expect to see Frank Lampard’s side gain revenge for their comprehensive opening day loss to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in the Premier League.”

Chelsea FC have beaten Lille and Ajax in the Champions League during their impressive seven-game winning run.

Manchester United are in seventh place in the Premier League table but seven points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC.

The Red Devils have won their last two games in all competitions.
